German Pianist Alexander Krichel at The Frick Collection

The German pianist Alexander Krichel will make his New York recital debut at The Frick Collection. His program includes Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin, M. 68; Schumann’s Symphonic Etudes, Op. 13, and Mendelssohn’s Variations sérieuses in D Minor, Op. 54.

The first recital disc of Alexander Krichel won ECHO Klassik’s Newcomer of the Year award in 2013. Subsequently, Mr. Krichel released a number of critically acclaimed recordings, including Rachmaninov’s Second Piano Concerto with the Dresden Philharmonic and, most recently, Miroirs, an album of solo works by Maurice Ravel. He has performed with the Bamberger Symphoniker under Jonathan Nott, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra under Antonio Méndez, the Tokyo and Kyoto symphony orchestras, the Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa, the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, the Orquesta Filarmónica Nacional de Venezuela, Royal Camerata Romania, and Festival Strings Lucerne. Festival appearances include the Rheingau Music Festival, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, Schwetzinger Festspiele, Piano aux Jacobins, L’ésprit du Piano Bordeaux, and Ocean Sun Music Festival. A busy recitalist, Mr. Krichel has given concerts in Berlin, Luxembourg, Mexico City, and London. This season, in addition to his New York recital debut at The Frick Collection, he will return to Japan.
