Manuel Schmiedel at the Blue Note Jazz Festival

17th June 2018

Manuel Schmiedel is making his debut representing Germany within the inaugural European Sounds Series at the Blue Note Jazz Festival.

The German-born pianist has made a name for himself as one of Europe’s most sought after pianists, touring and recording with a wide array of artists including US jazz guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel. Since relocating to New York, he has kept a busy schedule performing at some of New York’s finest venues and clubs and started stepping into the spotlight as a leader of his own groups.
The European press has hailed Schmiedel’s “exceptional spectrum of expressiveness” and the “symphonic intensity” of his music. Saxophonist and Grammy winner Chris Potter describes him as “a truly formidable talent of originality, technical and rhythmic dexterity and compositional prowess.”
Manuel Schmiedel will be leading a stellar ensemble, Manuel Schmiedel Quartet, featuring Rick Rosato on bass, Adam Arruda on drums and saxophonist Dayna Stephens.
