BBC’s Joe Pascal and the true friends behind the film “Crown Heights”

4th April 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Free

Colin Warner and Carl King tell the BBC’s Joe Pascal how their friendship fought the justice system and won.

Imagine being convicted of a murder you didn’t commit. Imagine your constant protestations of innocence falling on deaf ears. Then imagine serving two decades in prison not knowing if you would ever be released. That is what happened to Colin Warner; he was arrested as a teenager, in the Crown Heights area of Brooklyn in 1980, but by the time he had his conviction overturned he was a middle-aged man.

Colin’s freedom wouldn’t have been possible without his unfailing sense of hope and the steadfastness of his best friend Carl King. Their story has been turned into the film ‘Crown Heights’

Carl will tell the BBC’s Joe Pascal how he basically turned himself into a detective to prove his friend’s innocence and Colin will describe what got him through 21 years in a cell he should never have been in

Join the audience at the Brooklyn Academy of Music to hear this incredible story of strength, determination and the friendship that fought the justice system and won.
