Lukas Akintaya Quartet

Lukas Akintaya presents his new quartet featuring saxophonist Jeremy Viner, guitarist Keisuke Matsuno and bassist Simon Jermyn on April 21, 2019 at the El Barios Artspace.
Lukas Akintaya is a German/Nigerian New York-based drummer and composer. His new quartet features saxophonist Jeremy Viner, guitarist Keisuke Matsuno and bassist Simon Jermyn and explores new territories from folkloristic infuences over groove – and experimental electronic musics. Lukas has studied at the HfK Bremen, the Jazz Institut Berlin (UdK/HfM Hanns Eisler) the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSM) and is currently part of the graduate program at the New York University (NYU). Having shared the stage with many different ensembles and musicians, he has performed in 14 countries worldwide and is a contributory part of the European and the New York jazz scene. Lukas has been involved in various genre transcending releases.
