From Pig Farm to Genocide Memorial: Lety and the Struggle for Recognition of the Genocide against the Roma and Sinti

As part of its 2020 programme of remembrance, education and outreach about the Holocaust, the Holocaust and the United Nations Outreach Programme is organizing an online panel discussion on 16 September, “From Pig Farm to Genocide Memorial: Lety and the Struggle for Recognition of the Genocide against the Roma and Sinti”.

The discussion will examine the history of the impact of the Holocaust on the Roma and Sinti. It will explore the struggle for recognition of the Lety concentration as an historical site of the campaign waged against the Roma and Sinti. The panel will also consider how grief and catastrophic loss can be rendered in a memorial.
