♦ Medical Information ♦

In our opinion, visiting an urgent care or emergency room is the best option in New York City to see a medical professional on the same day.

Emergency Rooms are associated with hospitals and are usually open 24 hours. We recommend going here if you are in an accident or have a real emergency. Click Here for a Google Map of Emergency Rooms

Urgent Cares are usually open from 8am to 8pm (make sure you check the timings of the urgent care you are going to) and will have doctors but not necessarily all the equipment a full hospital carries. We recommend going here for most every day issues.

Please check with your insurance provider to find out exactly how reimbursements work for you when you visit a medical office in the United States. You can also check to see whether your health insurance is accepted when you enter any medical office / institution.

Mount Sinai Doctors – East 34th Street is a six- floor, multi-specialty practice located close to our campus in midtown Manhattan. They accept walk-ins and appointments depending on availability; their website is https://www.mountsinai.org/locations/msd-east-34. However, remember that there are multiple Mount Sinai locations throughout New York City, students can find a location closes to them at https://www.mountsinai.org/locations.

If possible, speak with the health insurance company to find out the process before arrival to New York. You could also request them to locate doctors in NYC that accept the specific insurance thereby being prepared before you arrive.
