Grab a cup of coffee and join us virtually for a casual chat with Minister-Counselor Christian Joergens, Head of Section for Science & Technology at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany to the United States in Washington, DC.

Biography: Mr. Christian Joergens heads the S&T section of the German Embassy in Washington, DC since January 2019, a position he already held from 2007-2011. Prior to this appointment he served as Science Counselor of the German Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel (2016-2018) and Head of Division for Cooperation with Asia at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) from 2011-2016. Before 2007, he served in different functions at the BMBF. He was Head of Division for Legal Affairs, and Head of Division for Staff at Research Institutions and Public Sector Employment Law. He headed the Ministry’s Working Group for Reform of Public Sector Employment Law. Earlier, he worked in the Human Resources Division and the Division for Cooperation with North and South America. From 1996 to 1998, Mr. Joergens served at the Department for Technology and Innovation Policy of the Federation of German Industries (BDI). In 1989 he was seconded to the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL) in Grenoble, France. Mr. Joergens holds a Masters Degree in law of Georg-August University in Göttingen, Germany.
