“X=Change” Exhibition at the German House

15th February 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

We are proud to announce the exhibition “X=change” with nine German artists with one common experience: They all have been residents in the International Studio & Curatorial Programm, ISCP, in Brooklyn/New York. This alumni exhibition shows the long-term effects of these residencies on the artistic work and how fruitful an exchange in the field of art is.

The artists discovered new motives and techniques for themselves, started to work with other colors, materials and media, developed different ways of working, started experimenting with different formats. The forms opened, the narrative modes became more open, the spectrum expanded.

For the exhibition, all artists have selected works that could not have been created without the influences of their fellowships in New York. The exhibition X-change not only invites visitors to discover the developments of individual artists, but also to discuss the significance of cultural exchange on the basis of these examples.

Artists: Birthe Blauth, Tatjana Busch, Motoko Dobashi, Isabelle Dyckerhoff, Annegret Hoch, Nina Annabelle Märkl, Sybille Rath, Susanne Thiemann, Anne Wodtcke.

Greetings by Dennis Elliott, the Founder and former Director of the ISCP, and by Kari Conte, the Director of Programs and Exhibitions of the ISCP.

ISCP supports the creative development of artists and curators, and promotes exchange through residencies and public programs. Housed in a former factory in Brooklyn, with 35 light-filled work studios and two galleries, ISCP is New York’s most comprehensive international visual arts residency program, founded in 1994.

This show is on view until Wednesday, May 2, 2018.
