Learning Outcomes:
Following this module, participants have a good understanding of fundamental theories and concepts of applied media psychology. They are able to discuss the current research on the psychological antecedents and consequences of media consumption. They are able to explain the concept of media competence and how it can be developed. Students are in a position to participate in controversial debates on media psychology such as media violence and its effects on aggression using arguments based on factual research. Participants have an enriched understanding of the psychological impact of the media and well-developed media competence. They are not only able to analyze and evaluate advertising campaigns, but also to use their knowledge of media psychology to design media projects to achieve intended psychological results.
