Team Overview

SAP’s Corporate Strategy team directly supports the Chief Executive Officer, the Global Executive Board, and other senior executive leaders in end-to-end strategy development and execution across SAP.

The Corporate Strategy team’s responsibilities include:

Define the high-level corporate strategy and vision for the CEO
Identify investment priorities and strategic growth drivers
Serve as experts in innovation topics, including cloud platform, applications, and business networks
Create go-to-market strategy focusing on key markets
Drive M&A strategy jointly with Corporate Development
Screen, identify, and mentor start-ups (e.g., SAP.iO Fund and Foundry)
Collaborate with competitive market insights team
Identify and incubate new business models
Communicate strategy internally and externally
Role and Responsibilities

The candidate will serve as Director of Corporate Strategy for North America. Their primary role will be to provide leadership, business judgment, analytic guidance, and business experience to drive strategy in the region. The candidate will lead and support multiple projects related to digital marketing, customer co-innovation, business model transformation, new market entry and white-space growth initiatives, channel / partner strategy, etc.

Key responsibilities include:

Define long-term growth drivers, strategic initiatives, and investment priorities in collaboration with local leadership
Provide outside-in perspectives on market dynamics, incl. macro-economic, social, and technology trends
Serve as the go-to-expert on topics related to go-to-market strategy (e.g., new product introductions, customer engagement models, channel / partner strategy, salesforce productivity, etc.)
Generate local thought leadership on internal/external messaging (e.g., executive keynotes, customer visits, etc.)
Drive execution of select pilot programs to support global, regional, and market unit strategy initiatives
Collaborate with regional CMI team to provide integrated recommendations
Provide strategy support on critical accounts / priority deals on an as needed based on NA President requests
Give guidance and mentorship to early talent (incl. IMPACT program participants and fellows)

The candidate will report to the NA Regional President and the Head of Corporate Strategy for Americas and APJ. He/she will be a core member of the Senior Executive Team of the NA region. In addition, the candidate will interact with the Global Chief Strategy Officer, Global Chief Digital Marketing Officer, and other global leaders on regular basis.

Requirements and Qualifications

The candidate will be a creative, out-of-the-box thinker who is intellectually curious with a demonstrated interest in learning, driving change, and enterprise technology. This person will also need to be a self-motivated, high-energy individual who can easily function in a high demand, performance-driven environment. He/she must be accustomed to working on multiple tasks in parallel. This professional must possess strong leadership skills, best demonstrated by the individual’s ability to gain credibility with team members and senior management.

Key qualifications include:

8+ years of professional experience with a strong background in enterprise technology
4-5 years in a post-MBA managerial role at top-tier strategy consulting firm (or equivalent experience in a Corporate Strategy role in a technology company)
Experience in go-to-market, commercial, or customer-facing operations preferred
Distinctive problem solving and analytical skills with an ability to bring insight into complex problems
Proven ability to drive strategy to execution in a complex matrix organization
Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior executives and build relationships across functions, levels, and geographies
Ability to manage teams with proven track record of mentoring and developing talent
BA/BS degree required; Graduate degree from a leading business school or PhD preferred

The position will be based in SAP’s Newtown Square PA or NYC NY office with 20-30% travel.
