THE EMBASSY OF AUSTRIA IN WASHINGTON, DC IS SEEKING AN OFFICER FOR THE ECONOMIC DEPARTMENT
Position title: Officer in the Economic Department of the Austrian Embassy
Location: Austrian Embassy, 3524 International Court, NW Washington DC, 20008
Start of Employment: mid-June 2019
Salary: US$ 4,000.00 gross per month (salary and employment details will be confirmed upon offer of employment). This is a full-time staff position.
Short description: The Officer shall assist the Head of the Economic Department
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Drafting reports on economic policy developments in the USA for the Head of the Economic Department
- Drafting presentations, correspondence and press statements in German and English
- Outreach to U.S. government agencies, Think Tanks, NGOs and interest groups in order to establish high-level contacts
- Identify and facilitate opportunities for bilateral cooperation
- Represent the Head of the Economic Department at meetings and events
- Preparing and coordinating the visiting program of incoming delegations from Austria including organizational administrative tasks such as making hotel and flight reservations
- Additional duties as assigned by the Head of the Economic Department, including administrative tasks
Position Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Graduate studies either in business administration, political sciences, international relations or studies in a relevant field
- Work experience preferred
- Work permit for the United States preferred
Skills:
- Excellent command of written and spoken German and English
- Sound knowledge of the political and economic situation in the USA and Austria
- Excellent communicative and organizational skills
- Motivated, detail-oriented, flexible and stress-resistant
- Responsible-minded and discretionary behavior
- Excellent command of MS office
